Obituary for Arlene Polizzi
Arlene Mary Lape Polizzi went to join our heavenly father on October 15, 2017. Arlene was born on May 22, 1938 in Randolph, Massachusetts to Helen Cameron Wise and Euing A Lape, both of which have left this world. She was raised in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Her love for the ocean and water was lifelong. It is rumored that she may have had some mermaid DNA in her. She met her future husband and love of her life at a U.S.O. dance at Atlantic City Naval Air Station. Arlene married her love, Louis Mario Polizzi on April 27, 1957. He brought her into his large Italian family that embraced her as their own. She was preceded in death by her loving Father in law and Mother in law Joseph and Angelina Polizzi whom she loved very much. This past April, Louis and Arlene celebrated 60 years of marriage. Together they raised 3 children who miss her deeply along with their spouses. Joseph Poizzi, Daniel and Sam Polizzi, Dan and Terri (Polizzi) Snyder. She was a working mother. From telephone operator to a Barber. But family came first. She soon became Grandma, a role that she loved. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her grandchildren, Brianna (Polizzi) Shores, Jerry C Leakey, Barbara (Polizzi) Sirks, Karlin Polizzi, Tara (Peck) Nelson (along with her sisters Michelle and Brooke), Joey Polizzi and Kayla (Snyder) Frazao, She was blessed to become a great grandmother to 7 beautiful great grandchildren: Hugh, Noah, Lena, Levacy, Reed, Sylar and last but definitly not least, Annabella. Sadly she was preceded in death by baby Noah. Arlene is also survived by her two sisters whom she loved dearly. Wanda (Lape) Berthold and Sharon (Lape) Laltrello and her sister in law Josephine (Polizzi) Potenza who she also loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her other sister in law Angie (Polizzi) Ferrarra who she missed terribly. She felt very blessed to have such amazing sisters and sister in laws. She also had a tremendous love for all of her nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and even great great nieces and great great nephews. She took pride in all of them. They all loved their Aunt Arlene.
Arlene loved to laugh and her laugh was so contagious. She had so many friends including pen pals, neighbors, people from her church, barbershop clients, coworkers, the list can go on. Her best friend for life, Joyce (Sparano) Thomas has been waiting for her to join her in heaven and surely heaven is now filled with more laughter then it has ever heard before. They shared a love for family, laughter, and ice cream! Arlene loved Joyce and Arlene loved life and touched the lives of so many people and they in turn touched her life. She also left behind her other best and loyal friend Mary Romano. Arlene’s heart was huge, she made a mean apple pie and though I listed her children and grandchildren here, she had no problem including their friends in their outings, whether it was to go to church, the park, rides home from school or even a place to stay. She had a close and personal relationship with our heavenly Father and though we will miss her beyond words we know she is in his hands, pain free and welcomed into heaven by so many family members and friends that she loved and were loved by her. One of her favorite verses was Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, October 20, 2017 from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. with a Funeral Service to follow immediately. She will be laid to rest at South Florida National Cemetery.
