Obituary for Robert Frankl

Robert Frankl
Wesley Hills Founding Mayor Dies at 87

Robert Henry Frankl (Mayor Bob) died May 24, 2017 with his beloved family by his side. He was born on November 3, 1929 to Adolph and Elsie Doerner Frankl in NYC. He was one of the founders and the first mayor of Wesley Hills, where he served in that office for 25 years.

He was a graduate of NYU and a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Korea from 1951-1953. After a career in Leather Sales he entered politics. He was president of the Rockland County Chapter of the Korean War Veterans and was a strong advocate of veterans and veteran affairs. He was a member of Temple Beth El in Spring Valley, NY for over 40 years.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rhea Kantner Frankl, of 58 years; his sons Steven (Caridad Polanco) and Joshua (Hana Solomon} and his daughter Tamara Morhaim (David), his grandchildren Zachary Morhaim, Matan, Noah and Eitan Frankl and Hector Reyes and his brother Gerald Frankl, several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

He was a man for all seasons, charming and social, intellectually active and will be sorely missed. A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 1:30 P.M. on Friday, May 26, 2017 at Palm Beach National Chapel. Mr. Frankl will be laid to rest at South Florida National Cemetery with Military Honors in a private ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Lung Association, American Cancer Society or Trustbridge Hospice.

Please express condolences to his family through this online book of memories.
